International Day of the Girl Child:We remember Tina Ezekwe

Today is International Day of the Girl Child and we are remembering Tina Ezekwe a 17 years old girl who died on May 28th 2020 at the hospital , 4 days after she got shot by a trigger happy policemen named Theophilus Otobo (Assistant Superintendent of Police) and Inspector Oguntoba Olamigoke in the Iyana-Iworo area of Lagos Nigeria. It was alleged that the two named officers mentioned above shot Tina as they aimed to shoot and arrest a driver who refused to pay them N200 after breaking the Covid 19 Lockdown curfew rules.

Tina was supposed to write her WAEC this year but was forced to early grave by men of the police force . The two policemen threatened to shoot her again despite seeing the little girl on cold blood.

She supposed to be among the next generation of girls lending their voices and taking over the leadership role in the world but her dream was cut short by the SARS police unit of Nigeria Police Force. We remember you Tina, the police don’t care about you, the Nigeria government doesn’t care about you but many Nigerians are out there on the street, on social media asking the government to scrap SARS Unit of the Nigerian Police Force and reform the Police Force.

This fight is for you and other citizens of this country whose life was cut short by the Police force and to protect those that are still alive from experiencing the police brutality, so that we can keep you all memories alive.

Rest on Tina Ezekwe; we will always remember you and justice shall prevail for you and everyone who are victims of police brutality.
