FEMINISM: WOMEN RAISING THE PATRIACHY STANDARD

Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche in her essay titled “We should all be Feminists” encourages women’s liberation, advocates for equal opportunities irrespective of gender in all aspects of life, also encouraged men to hold conversations with women on sexuality, roles, appearance e.t.c
A lot of men challenged the social movement called “Feminism” but these days some women also shared the same perceptive with the men on the social movement. Many men and women are assertive that the movement entirely challenges the biological roles of each gender. They see Feminist as a menace in the social which must be curbed to a once upon a time story.
This year Sallah shared more dark light on women raising the patriarchy standard apart from the social media. There was a conversation between me and my aunties and their husbands on “Feminism.” They said that “They aren’t a Feminist” I replied “It is a Choice”
One of my aunties added that “She was once a Feminist”
A Queen abdicated the throne, May God provide a new Queen!
She also advised me not to support the "social movement called Feminism”, I asked “why?’’
She said “Women can’t be financially independent”
A story of Catastrophe! At that point I realized why some women are shouldering patriarchy:
1) Lack of Knowledge of what “Feminism is about”
2) Lack of understanding of the word “Financial independent”
3) Adherence to morality that man created
4) Acceptance of the scripture that was postulated to them by men while they discard the part that doesn’t support patriarchy.
5) Lack of self-esteem of women to challenge patriarchy
6) Lackadaisical attitude on listening and reading about the social movement called “Feminism”.
Maybe I am wrong ?
I thought the discussion was over! Until my mum called my attention to the fact that one of my aunties informed her that “She should discourage me from being a Feminist and I should get married soon” My Dad was furious on his seat and he said “Tell her to mind her business”
Whoop! End of Meeting.
At that, I realized that some women are at the forefront in raising the Patriarchy Standard.
Also, I still don’t understand the cornerstone behind:
Women reinforcing the archaic traditional value on women who decided not to follow such delusional lane , because it doesn’t support their growth as a woman.

Hopefully, women who support the archaic traditional values created by men, will stop reinforcing on women who chooses not to walk that lane with them. They made their choices and they should resist the enforcement of those choices on women who don’t support the Patriarchy movement.
